On 5th and 6th March 2005, in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Relief Fund, our first MACMILLAN 4X4 UK CHALLENGE (Mac4x4) took place. The Mac4x4 is a driving and navigational event, coupled with off-road sections - It's also a long-distance, endurance, event for standard production 4x4 vehicles. It involved motorways, A, B, minor roads and tracks. With off road, green lane and night navigation trial sections to test the crews. Approximately fifty teams, comprising of driver and navigator, took part. It required excellent driving skills, endurance and navigational skills as well as planning, good teamwork and, of course, confidence in each other's abilities. The vehicle we were driving was Tim's 1994 Mitsubishi Pajero XRII 2.8TD.

The Mac4x4 2005 event was absolutely superb and very enjoyable. We met many new people and made many new friends. All in all it was an all around tiring, but extremely enjoyable weekend. We were definitely going to enter the Mac4x4 2006! The main aim of the Mac4x4 is to raise money and awareness for the Macmillan Cancer Support fund - In the Mac4x4 2005, our first year of entering; we raised just over £850!

The Mac4x4 2006, 'The Year We Went To Ireland', saw nearly 60 vehicles entering the Challenge. We were allocated number '13' - The event started at the Baskerville Hotel in Clyro, Herefordshire, on Friday 10th March - the 2006 event took us over 1000miles from Clyro - Fishguard - Rosslare - Dublin - Anglesey - Warrington. The event was a great success! We were very happy, as we were awarded '3rd Place Overall' - In the Mac4x4 2006 we raised nearly £1500! We will be aiming to raise more for the Mac4x4 2007!

The clear aim of the Mac4x4 is to raise money - The proceeds, from the Mac4x4, are entirely dependent on sponsorship, and donations, which teams are expected to raise. The proceeds go to the Macmillan Cancer Support fund, which are the country’s major charity devoted to the treatment and care of people with cancer and their families. It will support Macmillan’s continuing efforts to provide support services through the well-known Macmillan Nurses, doctors, buildings and patient grants.
